Thomas Walter SavageNovember 25, 1941 ~ February 1, 2018 (age 76)
Tom was born in Casper, Wyoming on November 25, 1941 to Walter and Kathryn Savage. In his childhood, Tom formed a love for the outdoors and became an Eagle Scout, which was an accomplishment he was always proud of. Tom graduated from Natrona County High School in in 1960. Upon graduation, Tom joined the Wyoming Air National Guard. Once back, he finished college at Denver University where he received an MBA. He worked initially as an auditor then as an Executive in the Aerospace Industry for over 30 years.
In 1963, Tom married Fran Marshall. They had 3 children; Dave, Steve and Brian. In 1973, Tom was transferred to Stockton, California. Tom and Fran divorced in 1976. In 1981, Tom married Mary West and they moved to Huntington Beach, CA. Mary had 3 children; Mark, Philip and Brian, whom Tom raised as his own. Tom was an avid fly fisherman and provided opportunities for all children to enjoy his love of the outdoors and fly-fishing.
Tom is survived by his wife Mary, six sons, four daughter-in-laws, nine grandchildren and many friends.
Tom enjoyed life and fought hard for his final years. In 2014, Tom received a lung transplant that allowed him to live an additional four quality years and enjoyed life with Mary, his children, and grandchildren. In those years, he managed to see 4 grandchildren graduate from high school.
Tom was twenty-two and a half years sober due to his tenacity and help from many in Alcoholics Anonymous. This was his proudest accomplishment! He enjoyed a wonderful life in those years and developed some important and lasting friends. Tom strengthened his faith in God during this period and lived and loved according to Gods plan. We know he is in a better place.
Tom was loved by all -- his family, his childhood friends, his business friends, his Grace Lutheran Church family, his transplant support group and by all who came in contact with Tom. He truly enjoyed life and fought hard for it.
Tom will be greatly missed by all and we are all better people for being touched by Tom.
