Albert Pallo, a beloved Uncle, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2023, at the age of 91 in Santa Ana, California. His mind was sharp to the end; unfortunately, his body simply could not keep up.
Uncle Al was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 8, 1932. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Anna Pallo. He grew up in the company of five other siblings, George, May, Ann, Josephine, and Joseph. Despite the Great Depression, the children grew close and maintained a long-lasting bond. Regrettably, Joseph and Anna’s relationship suffered, and the two were divorced.
Albert remained particularly close to his mother, Anna. They lived together in Cleveland, Ohio, then moved to their Southern California home in Costa Mesa in 1965, close to his brother George and his family. Albert welcomed many visits from family members, including his sisters, May, Josephine, and Ann. His brother Joseph, a Roman Catholic priest, visited Albert and his mother Anna regularly each year during the summer. Al stayed in Costa Mesa until 1976, and upon the death of his mother, he moved to his new home in Fountain Valley, California.
Albert served his country in the United States Army at the rank of PFC. Professionally Albert was a successful salesman at Bergen Brunswig Corporation, the second-largest pharmaceutical wholesaler. He enjoyed his work and considered his years with the company to be among his very best.
Albert had a contagious laugh that could brighten anyone’s day. He was generous with his time and enjoyed hosting Sunday family get-togethers. Family members were treated to exotic cocktails, fancy hors d’oeuvres, and gourmet dinners. Albert was an avid gardener. His yard was a literal botanical garden with a variety of trees, flowers, and plants. Interestingly, he was fluent in the Slovak language and maintained close ties with the Pallo family in Trstena, Slovakia.
Albert had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and his home was always open to furry friends of all shapes and sizes. His dogs were his constant companions and his source of greatest joy. Through thick and thin, Albert cherished every moment spent with his dogs, from leisurely walks in the park to cozy cuddles on the couch.
Uncle Al is survived by his niece and nephews, George Pallo, Jr, Robert Pallo, Joseph Pallo, Steven Krajny, John Krajny, and Susan Krajny Eiler.
