Algie (AI, AC) Clayton Hight

February 9, 1922 ~ April 4, 2020 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Tribute

Born February 9, 1922 on a farm near Randolph, NE to his parents, Willard and Ethel Hight. Algie attended a one-room country school for eight years.  Algie attended high school in Randolph, NE and Brighton, CO.  He joined the US Navy on March 6, 1940 and served six years—most of the time during WWII as a Chief Radioman. He served an additional six years in the USN Blimp Squadron as a Navy Reservist.  AC attended William Jewel College in Liberty, MO and Long Beach Community College in Long Beach, CA.  He earned a BS degree in Accounting at the California College of Commerce.  Algie was a Treasury Agent with the IRS from 1949 to 1977.  After retirement from the IRS, he was a licensed California Public Accountant and Enrolled Agent with the IRS. 

AC was an active golfer and hiker. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Algie passed away peacefully at home after a short illness. Al is survived by his wife, Bennie and was “Pops” to several step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The greatgrands will miss mini golf games, croquet, pie at Marie Callendar’s  and their annual trip to the Melodrama with Pops. He is also survived by his brother Dave (Dee) Hight of Boulder, CO. as well several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Rae, his parents, and eight brothers and sisters: Bud, Helen, Berdeen, Dorie, Jack, Gene, Warren and Jim. 

Al was laid to rest on April 13 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California.  A celebration of life will be in the future as the state has restricted gatherings at this time due to Covid 19
