Catherine Campbell Shepstone

Catherine Shepstone was born on May 26, 1925 in Fife, Scotland to James and Margaret Blake she was one of eight children, two boys of which one was her twin brother John and five younger sisters.  As she grew up she helped her mother take care of her sisters.

Her first job at 13 years old was in the local wool shop in Uddingston, Scotland.   She went to nursing school during WWII and in later years was a nurse for 25 years.  She loved nursing, being a caretaker was natural to her, her patients comfort was her first concern.   She was known for walking so fast down the hallways in the hospital they called her "the flying Scots woman".

She met her husband Willie when she was 20 years old, my dad always said he thought she was only 16 but was relieved to find that she was 20 and would go out with him.

They married and had five children.   David, Jim, Margaret, Mary and Catherine.

Our mother loved us dearly and guided us as we grew up to be the people we are today. She was always there for us whether it be a conversation, a giggle or a good cry.

She was loved by all, especially her husband, children, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Our mother will be missed for her ready smile, her giggles, sweet nature and the love she showed to all of us.

We love you Mum, now you are at peace.
