Duane Matthew Lux

Duane was born in Montebello, CA. He was raised in La Mirada with his parents, three brothers, and one sister. His childhood was filled with a life of adventure, spending years going on family camping and fishing trips. His parents gave him his love of the great outdoors.

Growing up, Duane’s father Frank coached him and his brothers in baseball. Frank’s influence helped to shape his love of all sports. Always enthusiastic and a great team player, Duane was also active in soccer, football, and Scouting. As a teenager at La Mirada High School, he was an All-Star baseball and football player. He excelled in everything he tried – he was fearless and had the scars to prove it.

In his youth, Duane made true friendships that have endured to this day. The memories he shared with his friends made for great storytelling around the dinner table. His radiant and outgoing personality always lit up any room he walked into.

After graduating from high school, Duane began working for his father as a painter. He worked hard to become a master craftsman. He spent 36 years as a painting contractor, developing a loyal clientele.

Duane’s love of the outdoors took him hiking, fishing, and hunting. He greatly enjoyed his annual hunting trips to Colorado with his friends each year. He also fished locations in Mammoth, Mexico, San Diego, Catalina and hunted in Idaho, Montana, and Michigan.

Duane met the love of his life, Lisa, in 1994. Two years later, they married and started their family shortly after. Duane and Lisa were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Cierra. A devoted husband and father, he coached Cierra in soccer, always made trips to Disneyland, and planned countless family vacations, with Hawaii being his favorite.

Duane was dedicated to his wife, daughter, and friends. He cherished these relationships. He was a special human being who was loved by everyone. Duane will truly be missed by all.
