Ellen Maureen Morgan

November 11, 1940 ~ January 28, 2018 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Ellen Maureen (Ryan) Morgan, 77, was born in Brooklyn, New York on November, 11, 1940 to Catherine Mary and John Patrick Ryan. Ellen grew up in an Irish Catholic family and was the youngest sister to John, Hank, and Regina. She graduated from Bishop McDonald High School in Brooklyn, which was located next door to their family home.

Her family moved to Rockaway, Belle Harbor in Long Island, where she met Daniel Morgan – who gave her the nickname Schatzie, which means sweetheart in German. The celebrated their wedding on September 26, 1964 at St. Ignatius Church. They moved to California in 1966 and resided in Redondo Beach until they settled in Huntington Beach in 1974 where they raised their three children, Kathryn (Kassy), Daniel, and Ryan.

Ellen was a devoted mother, ensuring her children had the best education and involved in all of their activities.  While her children attended school at Saints Simon and Jude, she started a bowling league through the PTA and typed the schools monthly newsletter. For a few years she worked part-time at Mervyn’s, and enjoyed getting out and being with her co-workers and customers.

She always put her family before herself and all their successes were hers as well.

Ellen always had a hug and a story for anyone she met, and could cheer you up with her infectious laugh and warm smile. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, her sons and daughters-in-law, her ten grandchildren, her brother Hank, her two brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law and 13 nieces and nephews. Ellen was a loving mother and shared her life with her husband, Dan of 53 years. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Schatzie - Kelly, Dakota, John, Katie, Brian, Bailey, Riley, Aidan, Brennan, and Fionn. She lovingly shared every joy, sorrow, heartache and success with each of them.

Her love and legacy have touched us all and with her husband, at our side and in our hearts.

Ellen told her grandchildren that she didn’t know how she would survive if her husband passed before she did, by the grace of god she never had to.
