Gene and I were friends for more than 50 years, she encouraged me to pursue nursing as a career and was my mentor every step of the way. I truly loved her like a big sister and will miss her vibrant spirit. It has been a pleasure to know a lady with elegance and the ability to show compassion for others she came in contact with during her life's journey . I have many fond memories of our times together raising our children, taking vacations and just talking on a regular basis--I will miss you deeply.
Always in my heart, Vonnie

Gene and I met on a school bus that was taking us from our rural Missouri homes to the newly consolidating school district of Warren County, Missouri, where we attended our seventh grade together. She from her one-room schoolhouse and me from a recent move my family made to a farm. We were best friends throughout our high school years and her mother always included me on their travels to basketball games and school activities. Our graduation from high school sent us on different paths but Gene always kept in contact and though we always lived in different states, we were able to get together a few times over the years.
Our friendship always meant a great deal to me. We had wonderful, far-ranging conversations, especially during these later years. She was a beautiful woman and always, always a faithful friend. I miss her.

Wow. I am so sorry. to hear.... For some time, I was meeting with Eugenia on a weekly basis and we would go for a walk and grab a cup of coffee. She was smart, but could be very opinionated... and I actually enjoyed that mix. Hadn’t seen her in awhile, but I am thankful for those moments.... God bless Dana and her family during this difficult time. Tom Julian

"Gene", as I knew her, was a strikingly beautiful, intelligent, forward thinking woman. She knew all about women's abilities and value long before it trended. She worked hard throughout her life and earned the respect of her loving daughter, Dana. Dana cared for "Gene" for the last years of her life and provided for her so she was comfortable and as in best health as possible. Gene will be missed greatly and my heart is with Dana and her brothers in their loss. Goodbye Gene...say hello to my Mom, Dee, OK? xoxoxoxox Gail
