Gary Anthony Kossick, 63, of Huntington Beach, passed away on March 2, 2024 with his wife and children by his side. Gary was born on June 17, 1960 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Los Angeles to Hilda and Paul Kossick. He grew up in Glendale, California. Gary was a gifted athlete and played both basketball and baseball in college. He was a natural leader with a kind heart, humble nature and positive attitude and had many friends.

After graduating from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Gary returned home to Glendale. He held several jobs in sales and was also a physical education teacher at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in La Crescenta. In his free time, he refereed basketball and umpired softball games in the City of Glendale. This is where he met his wife, Tiffany.

Gary and Tiffany were married in September 1990 in Glendale and soon thereafter moved to Huntington Beach where they raised their two children Chloe and Cooper. Both kids followed in their father’s athletic footsteps playing multiple sports.  Gary enjoyed coaching all of their teams, along with teaching their Catholic Faith Formation classes.

In 1988 Gary landed his perfect job where he was able to use his sports background, gift for numbers and love for people.  He was hired by American Golf Corporation as a golf course manager and did this for over 20 years.  Later in 2013, he went to work for the County of Los Angeles, Parks and Recreation Department as an assistant golf director and held this position for over 10 years.  He will truly be missed by the golf community.

Gary was able to inspire and mentor all of those he coached over the years using his positive attitude, gentle, yet truly competitive nature while enjoying every minute.  Despite his many athletic achievements, he remained humble which made it easy for him to make and keep countless connections and valuable friendships.

Gary is survived by his wife, Tiffany, his daughter Chloe, son Cooper, mother Hilda, brothers Paul and Frank, and sister Debra. He is predeceased by his father, Paul Kossick.

Please join us for a funeral service in honor of Gary at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, 8345 Talbert Avenue in Huntington Beach and burial will follow at Good Shephard Cemetery and Mausoleum, 8301 Talbert Avenue in Huntington Beach
