Ingrid Gail Woken (Norgaard) passed away on Thursday January 31, 2019. She was 76. Ingrid was born to Ole and Gudrun Norgaard (both now deceased) on December 10, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. They lived in Death Valley, CA and Monrovia, CA. While in Monrovia, she attended Monrovia High School class of 1960. After graduation, Ingrid attended La Sierra Pasadena College and graduated in 1964. After graduation, Ingrid began teaching in the Duarte School District. Ingrid was motivated to teach by being inspired by her mother Gudrun whom was also a teacher. Ingrid married Peter Paul Woken from Hatton, North Dakota. They were married for nearly 30 years until Peters passing in 1996. They had a son Brent Edward Woken, born April 6, 1971 in Pasadena, CA. In 1975, they moved to Huntington Beach, CA and were happily married and raising Brent. Ingrid and Pete remained in Huntington Beach until their passing. Ingrid was a special education teacher in the Duarte School District and Westminster School District. She worked, helped, and taught all her students as if they were her own children. After retiring, Ingrid lived her dream by traveling, going on cruises, volunteering her time to help others, and going to Nevada to visit her son and play bingo and enjoy shows. Ingrid was survived by her son Brent Woken. Many lifelong family members and friends consider Ingrid a friend and mother to all. A thoughtful and compassionate person, she will be greatly missed.
