James Joseph Hansberry Jr

James (Jim) Hansberry, Jr, died peacefully on May 4, 2022 after a brief illness. He was a long-time resident of Long Beach, CA. Jim was born February 14, 1954 to the late James and Mary Ellen (nee Broderick) Hansberry. He was raised in Lafayette Hill, PA and moved to California in 1985. He loved his southern California life. He was predeceased by his beloved partner of 26 years, Laurie Stevenson, in 2020. Jim and Laurie traveled around the world and were especially fond of cruising in both the US and Europe.

Jim had a variety of interests. He was an avid reader and lifelong student of history and foreign languages.

He was a proud graduate of LaSalle University and Drexel University. At the time of his death, Jim was Controller and acting CFO at the Lundquist Institute in Torrance, CA. He was dedicated to Lundquist since 2009 and had several notable accomplishments. 

Jim is survived by six of his siblings: Mary Ellen (Larry) Moore, Kathleen Kingsley, Michael (Patty) Hansberry, Anne Gorman, Marie Theresa Hansberry and Maureen Hansberry. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brother Patrick and sister Patricia. 

Also survived by his nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Kevin) Flamm, Larry Thomas Moore, Katie (Dan) Baur, Alina (Mike) Willis, Sarah Gorman, Deanna Hansberry, Max Hansberry, Mike Flamm and Charlotte Flamm. Jim was an extremely generous uncle to his nieces and nephews. 

Jim was a kind and dedicated son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. He will be deeply missed by all. 

Services for Jim in both PA and CA will be scheduled at a later date.
