I just lost a rare friend who would not judge or forcing her opinion on anyone but offered me valuable insights; who I could call when I needed a trusted friend, who was caring and understanding, who had the ability to see the good in others and everything, who stayed calm under any circumstances. Joan knew life is tough but can be full of joys and she lived accordingly, courageous, determined and upbeat, joyful. She understood we are on this earth for learning, so she forgave.
I am blessed to know Joan and deeply saddened but I also believe Joan is already content, happy and free, at peace and in Good Hands, exactly where a faithful christian wished to be.
With much love to Joan's Family, May the legacy and memories of Joan bring you comfort and strength to overcome the deepest loss.
Sincerely,
Lena

Joan will surely be missed! What an intelligent, kind, dedicated woman she was. I was lucky enough to walk/run on the treadmill next to her for many of her long walks over the past 7 years or so.. She was about the best listener ever, and would always remember my kids' names and grades the next time I would see her, even when weeks or months had passed. The love and pride she had for her sons was evident always, and she loved talking about their accomplishments. I am so saddened to hear of her passing, but I feel so blessed to have had her friendship over the past few years. What a woman!

I had the privilege of knowing and working with Joan since 2000 until she retired. She was a joy. Anyone who met her knew instantly what a charismatic individual she was. She always made time for people when they needed her. I will forever remember Joan's positive spirit, kindness, upbeat personality and passion for swimming.
My deepest condolences to the family for this tremendous loss. I pray that her memory, her love for you and her legacy will be a comfort for you all in the days and weeks to come.

I will miss her joyful smiling face. I know of no other person more thoughtful and caring. Her birthday cards to so many people. She never failed to ask about the whole family when she called. I admire her too for her dedication staying healthy. Seeing her jog around the park or swimming at Los Cab reminded me of what I should be doing. It is why we had the gift of Joan for many years. God bless you Joan.
A true friend to so many. Joni Owen

I was shocked when a mutual friend (Cecile Truong) told me about Joan. She was a dear sweet woman who gave her full attention to each person. We worked together for a while At Epi. and we had lunch together after I retired. What can I say? Only the God she loved can comfort friends and family.
