John E. McGovern

John Edward McGovern of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on January 15, 2023, at his home.

John was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to John (Jack) Edward McGovern and Magaret Mary Freney on May 28, 1940. He went to high school at Archmere Academy and went on to earn a degree in business from Villanova University. He worked as an executive for Toyota Motor Corp. for 29 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf and tennis, watching sports, and vacationing in Maui, Hawaii.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda McGovern; his daughter Jeanne, of Aspen, Colorado, and son Jim (Brenda), of Huntington Beach, California. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Abigail McGovern, Benjamin McGovern, Hannah Small and Zachary Small; his sister Peggy Isselmann (John) and brother Mark McGovern (Chris), as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. John was preceded in death by his parents.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hoag Hospice at Home, Seacliff HomeCare and all those who have prayed for him and his family over the years.

A funeral mass will be held on March 17, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Simon and Jude in Huntington Beach.
