Katherine Beatrice Inostroza was born February 13, 1925 in Monterey, California. Some of you knew her as Katherine or Bea or Nina. No matter what name was known to you, you enjoyed her laughter and sense of humor. When she was very young, she worked in the canneries in Monterey. She later worked as a secretary at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey where she met her late husband Raul who was a professor of Language. In the 1960's she moved with Raul to the Long Beach / Huntington Beach area where Katherine worked as a librarian at the Golden West College Library and Raul was a professor at Long Beach University. They were an intellectual pair who hosted many gatherings in their home for food, poetry readings, and stimulating conversations. They traveled together and danced together. When Raul passed, she found solace in family and friends. She had a great group of walking and breakfast friends. She maintained her friendships her whole life and when she stopped the power walking, she met the gals for breakfast. Katherine was a great reader and loved books and sharing them. She liked gardening and grew beautiful tomatoes. She regularly had dreams of Raul and they would be dancing together. She would wake happy from dancing with her husband and yet feel that tender heartache of missing him. Now they can dance together in heaven. Nina Bea passed on July 8th 2018 at the grand age of 93 and she will be dearly missed.
