Matias John Elizondo

Matias “Matt” John Elizondo, born on September 9, 1925 in Calexico, California passed away at the age of 92 on November 25, 2017. He was the youngest of seven children born to Juan and Refujia Elizondo.  Along with his parents, Matt joins his siblings Jenny, Phyllis, Lucy, Marie, and Louie in heaven.

He served in WWII as a Seaman First Class for the Navy and fought in the Battle of Tarawa. 

Matt is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolina, daughter Sylvia Sierra and son-in-law Tony Sierra, daughter Linda Castaneda, daughter Katherine Castro and son-in-law Luis Castro, and brother Gabriel Elizondo. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 

A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Heritage-Dilday Memorial in Huntington Beach.  A funeral mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fountain Valley.
