Pete had a long 45-year career as a satellite communications engineer. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and later a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. During his career, Pete traveled around the world and made many dear friends.
Besides his career and family, Pete loved his hobbies. Pete was an active amateur radio operator and collector. He always had a fix-it project to restore a collector’s piece of radio equipment. Pete was a member of the Collins Collector’s Group, and he also volunteered his time as a member of the Huntington Beach Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service.
Pete’s hobbies also included motorcycles. Pete began riding motorcycles early in his life. He had a few bad falls, but they never discouraged him from riding. He owned many motorcycles over the years and enjoyed riding with his friends on long bike trips. His bike trips took him and his buddies all over the Pacific West Coast. They also rode in Europe and New Zealand together.
Pete was able to share his hobbies with his children. Pete’s interest in amateur radio was shared by his daughter, Diane. He was proud to pass down his radio call sign, K5PZ, to her. His son, William, shared his interest in motorcycles. William joined on many of Pete’s bike trips. Pete’s friends and family are happy that Pete’s influence lives on. He will be missed always.
