Ronald L. Cohen

Ronald L. Cohen (1939-2018)

Ronald L. Cohen passed away in Orange, California at home and was in the presence of his loving family.  He lived life to its fullest and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Ronald was born on April 29th, 1939 in Los Angeles, California.  He was born to Alec Cohen and Blanche Cohen (Brown).  Ronald was the sixth child in his family of seven children.  His family moved to San Diego, California where he attended Grammar School and High School.  After his father’s death at the age of sixteen, he worked at the family business, a tailoring shop. 

Ronald had an early love of law and politics.  He attended San Diego State University where he majored in political science.  He became involved college life and was a member of the young Democrats club.  He had the honor of escorting Eleonor Roosevelt into the auditorium when she came to the college campus to speak.  He applied and was accepted to law school at the University of San Diego. 

At a Valentine’s Day Dance at the University of San Diego, he met the love of his life.  He married Patricia on Dec. 3rd, 1966.  Ronald and Patricia honeymooned in Hawaii.  They settled in Los Angeles California and Ronald went to work for the Treasury Department.  Ronald worked in several government agencies.  He worked for many years in the Treasury Department.  In addition, he also worked for the FDIC and for the RTC as a senior ethics officer.  In his retirement, Ronald had been working as a financial consultant for many companies.

Ronald is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia of 52 years and his two loving children, Tracy Cohen Ryan and William Cohen.  He was a well-loved father-in law to Mitchell Ryan and Melissa Cohen.  He was a proud and dedicated grandfather to five grandchildren: Maxwell Ryan, Jackson Ryan, Hope Ryan, Elijah Cohen, and Theodore Cohen.  He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

A small private internment ceremony will be held the morning of June 9th at Holy Sepulcher.  Please join us for a Celebration of Life Ceremony Saturday, June 9th at 3:00 p.m. at Heritage-Dilday Memorial Services, 17911 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach, CA, 92647.  There will be a reception to follow.  Please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
