I was saddened to see Frank's obituary in the Register. I hesitated in reaching out to his family and friends because it has been so many long years since I last saw Frank. However, i want to say to his family that Frank will always be remembered as a kind, fun, and warm person with a contagious smile!!! I worked with Frank at Pacific Telephone in the 70"s & early 80's in Orange, shared "after-hour" activities, and always loved to compare our fishing stories from the opening week-end in the Sierras. (Oh yeah, he was easy to spot with his orange van at the lakes). Still fishing in God's country! Rest in peace my friend.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends,
Linda (Rainbird) Myser

I knew Frank in the late 70s when the old Marketing Group and BSC were all located at 500 S Main. We had gone on a river rapid trip down the American River when I was still working in San Francisco. When I moved to Orange, we did several more river trips to the Tuolomne River and another again on the American. Frank loved people and partying, and we all did a lot of that together. He was always quick to support and help others. He was a genuinely good guy and will be missed.

Frank was one of the really good guys! We worked together back in the 70's, when they called me the "kid". Frank always had a smile and was ready to party. To look at him, no one would have known that he had a care in the world. (Frank had more than most but he didn't let that bother him. The last time I saw Frank, I'm guessing, was ten years ago. It was around Christmas and Frank was going to be in the Newport Beach Boat Parade- pulling a boat by swimming! Even though we did not work together for a long time, Frank will always be remembered by me as a warm, caring, great guy!

So we skipped the large ad you see in this website because the newspaper wanted over $700.00 for a one day ad! Knowing that Dad would have scoffed at the notion of having to pay that much money for something like that, he'd say that a better use for the money would be to cover Margaritas and Mariachis at the party! We ran the small ad with contact info for the Life Celebration events! Hope to see you Saturday! Love, The Real Family

Back in the 80's I worked at Pacific Bell with Frank. I was just a 20 something year old Service Rep, but I would run into Frank and we had so many nice long chats. He was easy to talk with and a good listener. What I remember was even though he was a Manager and I was non-Management, he was very down to earth and did not act like a big shot. He was well liked and a good man. Even after all this time I remember him because of his kindness, and that lives on.

OC Register Obituary

Real, Frank Y.

Born August 25, 1939

Frank was a California native and resident of Huntington Beach and other fun destinations. Frank passed away on April 5, 2014. He was comforted at home per his wishes. He was cared for with the love and support of his friends and family.

Frank was a toddler when he lost his Father Atanasio. He was raised by his Mother Frances and Brother Carlos. They lived a hard life. Thru hard work and determination, he overcame the obstacles of his younger years. He learned many of his strong traits from his years as a Boy Scout.

He worked his way thru school performing well in academics and athletics. Frank retired as a Sales Manager with over 30 years of service at Pacific Bell.

Frank was a loving Father to his 3 sons, Frank Jr., Phil and Dan. Dad and his boys shared many memorable trips and experiences together. His favorites were camping in the mountains, riding dirt bikes in Baja and the deserts of So Cal. Surfing, diving and fishing the Baja Peninsula, playing at the ranch, attending the Winter Olympics, vacations across the USA and Puerto Rico, ski trips to Mammoth and the annual family gatherings in Palm Springs.

His son Phil preceded him in death in the year 1992. The loss of Phil changed his life forever. In honor of Phil, he guided the effort to build a church in Mexico.

Frank spent decades working and playing on his properties. After 42 years of waiting for a Grandchild, he was finally blessed with one. That event also changed his life. He began to spend more time courtside cheering for his Granddaughter than working on the ranch or fishing and diving in Baja.

‘Tata’, as he was known by his Granddaughter Alyssa, enjoyed a life of diverse and close friendships in the USA and Mexico. His friendships spanned decades. He enjoyed his fraternity of brotherhood with the Long Beach Neptunes freediving club, along with his Monday Night Footballers since his days at Pacific Bell.

His friendships span the entire length of the Baja peninsula, including many Godchildren. Tata loved to be involved in every family BBQ, gathering and reunion, along with sporting events and youth team functions.

At every gathering, Tata was the guy with the squeaky cooler full of Tecates and chilled wine for the Ladies.

His presence will be missed by everyone that knew him.

His Life Celebrations will be held on April 19, 2014

Per Frank Sr.'s wishes, the dress code for the entire day is 'resort casual'. Business and funeral attire are discouraged.
Fun and stories are encouraged. No 'Doom and Gloom' per Dad's wishes!

Feel free to share this info with others who may wish to attend. If you are reading this email but someone in the Real family circle didn't get this its only because we didn't have
their email or we screwed up. Please tell them for us!

Though not necessary, it would be helpful for us to know who may attend one or both of the events.

And most important (besides the casual attire and good stories to tell) is we understand everyone is busy. If you can't attend any of the events, don't fret.
There will be other opportunities to tip a glass and say a toast to Tata in the years to come. We are making plans for a 'Tata World Tour' coming to a town near you!
You could be enlisted to help!

We look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Frank, Laura and Dan Real

PS,
Kids are of course welcome

Hello Real Family,
Excuse me for the time gone by and this sudden message. I found it imperative to reach out to you.
I was going through my archives of many fascinating collections of photos and news articles. I do have the article in which Frank Real was featured for his work of San Nicholas. My son, Tyler M. Lusardi Paz and I visited Frank and stayed at the House in Huntington Beach, CA. Frank arranged the meeting for my Son to meet his Grandfather Paz. I remember meeting Robbie too on that visit. I was sad to read the obituary today though I thought it important to reach out. Rest in Peace Senior Frank Real for your hard work and determination. For the passing of all Family members, including Senior Paz and my son’s paternal Father, Rudy O. Paz. may God bestow strength and added harmony to our lives. Amen
